Dwayne Johnson is on top of the Hollywood world nowadays, however, it took some time to get there. He had certain rules to follow at the start of his career, which in truth, did not steer him in the right direction. This caused DJ to fire his reps and from then on, his career trended in the right trajectory.
With the landscape of Hollywood changing, DJ wants to change with the times. The recent tragedy to hit Hollywood, dealt with Alex Baldwin sadly misfiring on the set of ‘Rust’ with a real gun. This caused the passing of the film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins.
In light of what took place, DJ wants to make changes, both to his career and on the set of his production company, ‘Seven Bucks Production‘. Hopefully, the rest of Hollywood will follow these principles.
Dwayne Johnson Had Certain Rules At The Start Of His Career
It was a different world for Dwayne Johnson, as he found success in sports entertainment, however, the Hollywood world was a completely different one. From the start, DJ had big ambitions, though he knew the road ahead was not an easy one, despite his popularity from wrestling.
”I wanted to be the #1 man in the world of Hollywood in terms of box office draw. That was my goal at 29-years-old and I was prepared to work my ass off but I also knew, I gave myself a 10-12 year plan, but life is so unpredictable. I was really nervous because I also knew historically it didn’t matter.”
He wasn’t steered in the correct direction at the start. DJ was basically told to become someone else and put his past aside if he wanted to find success. That meant, slimming down and not working out intensely, along with leaving his WWE past behind.
DJ had even told ‘SNL’ he didn’t want to do anything wrestling-related on the show, it was the only rule he had enforced. Thankfully, along the way, he switched that mindset and embraced his past instead.
These days, DJ is well aware that the times are changing, therefore, he’s inflicting new rules in light of a recent tragedy.
Dwayne Johnson Doesn’t Want Real Firearms On His Set
The tragedy that took place on the set of ‘Rust‘ rocked the world of Hollywood. The film’s cinematographer Halyna Hutchins sadly passed away after a real firearm was used on the set of the film.
Those in Hollywood are all taking precautions after the tragedy took place and that includes Dwayne Johnson. According to his words alongside Variety, he won’t shoot any more films with the use of real firearms.
“I can’t speak for anyone else, but I can tell you, without an absence of clarity here, that any movie that we have moving forward with Seven Bucks Productions — any movie, any television show, or anything we do or produce — we won’t use real guns at all,” Johnson said to Variety.
“We’re going to switch over to rubber guns, and we’re going to take care of it in post,” he said. “We’re not going to worry about the dollars; we won’t worry about what it costs.”
Dwayne might not be the only one to enforce these rules and surely, lots of others in Hollywood will also enforce these rules, including studios. In fact, DJ wants the same protocols for ‘Seven Bucks Productions’.
DJ’s Film Company ‘Seven Bucks Productions’ Will Follow The Same Protocol
“Any movie we do that Seven Bucks does with any studio, the rule is we’re not going to use real guns. That’s it,” he continued.
DJ is set on inflicting these new rules for his film company, ensuring a safe environment.
”There are safety protocols and measures that we have always taken in the movie business and we take very seriously, and these sets are safe sets, and we’re proud of that. But accidents do happen. And when something like this happens of this magnitude, [that is] this heartbreaking, I think the most prudent thing and the smartest thing to do is just pause for a second and really re-examine how you’re going to move forward and how we’re going to work together.”
The tragedy to have taken place on ‘Rust‘ has caused a big change, and it is great to see that changes are taking place. Rubber guns seem to be the new wave moving forward.
